Continued from Part - I
My destination was in front of me, slowly slowly I moved
towards the door. I knocked the door with a little bit nervousness. Door opened
and I saw a man was standing in front of me. He asked,” yes! What can I do for
you?. I replied,” I want to meet Reet’s parents. He said,” come inside and sit
on the couch, I will call mam, and he pointed his hand towards the couch.
We both came in and I sat on the couch and looking at the
room’s wall. There I saw many pictures of Reet’s family where Reet was looking
very happy with his family. Suddenly a voice came in the common hall which breaks
the silence in the hall,” who are you girl? I just turned my face towards the
direction of the voice. I saw an old lady, near about 40 years old. I thought
that she must be Reet’s mother. I just stand up and said,” Hello Aunty, I am
Varsha, one of the good friend of Reet. We both studied in same college. She
said,” Oh! I see. Hello beta, hope you are fine? Sit and tell me what I can do
for you?
I said,” Aunty, I am so sorry to hear about the death of
Reet. Actually I was not in town, when this accident happened? I was out of country
for my job. Just few days back I came back to India and got this sad news about
Reet. Can you tell me what was happened to reet? Hearing this tears were
rolling on aunty’s eyes. She replied in mesmerizing voice,” Beta, after her
graduation he was very happy that he got a job in good IT company with great
salary package. He bought some cloths and gifts for me and his dad. We were
also very happy with the success of our son. We went to vaishno devi to thanked
goddess for such blessings upon our son Reet. We also tried that Reet could
came with us, but due to some official documents requirement in his company, he
decided to stay here and fulfill all the documentation process.
We all left home together in our car, he dropped us to the
railway station and he moved forward to his company for submitting the
documents and verification process. If I could knew that this is the last time
that I am seeing my son’s face for the last time, I never planned to go for the
pilgrimage tour. 2 days back when we return to our home, we called Reet on his
mobile, so that he can pick up from the railway station but his mobile was switched
off. We thought might be he is sleeping that’s why his mobile is switched off,
we hired a private cab from the railway station and moved to our home.
When we reached at our home premises, we saw many peoples
are gathered in front of our home and some police men’s were also enquiring something
from the peoples which were standing there. We both were unable to understand what has happened
and why so many peoples are standing here and why police is here? Keeping all
these questions in our mind, we deboard from the cab.
They are the parents of Reet,” one of my neighbor told to
police while pointing his hand towards us. The police men came towards us. He
asked us,” are you the parents of Reet? I said,” yes, but what’s the matter
officer? What happened, why you asking such question? Where is our son Reet? Is
he fine? Does something wrong happen with him? I asked many questions in a
single breath to the police men. He looked at my husband and said,” Mr. Singh,
I am sorry to say but your son is dead? Hearing this I was shocked and it seems
that there is no ground under my feet. I was fainted, Reet’s father hold me and
asked the officer,” what happened to my son? Officer replied that your son has
hung himself at his room, he has committed suicide. Reet’s father replied to
the officer,” do you know, what the hell you are talking about? Are you in your
senses? My son can’t do this to himself. The officer said,” Mr. Singh, I can
understand your feelings and I know what you have lost? But we can’t change the
destiny, that’s true that we found Reet’s body hung on the ceiling fan of his
room. I asked while carrying tears in my eyes,” did you found any suicide note
in the room or anywhere in our home. Officer Replied,” No, we didn’t found any
note at his room or nearby his body. Then why you think that Reet has committed
suicide, asked his father to the officer. He went silent and other two police
men were taking our son’s dead body in the ambulance. I ran after my son’s body
to see his face, to ask him that my son, what has happened to you? Why police
is saying that you have committed suicide? 2 police men hold my hand and rest
took the body in the ambulance.
Officer came near to Reet’s father and said,” Mr. Singh we
are taking your son’s body for postmartam. As soon as we will finish with the
postmartam process, we will inform you and you can take back the body of your
son. For the long time police did the investigation but they outcome with the only
one result that Reet has committed suicide. I know my son can’t take such
action with his self. He was very positive minded boy; he never gives up so easily
with any kind of hard circumstances and while saying this she again started
crying. I hugged her and said,” I am so sorry aunty, I made you cry. I know how
a person feels when he/she lost their young son? His mother swipe off her tears
and said,” how foolish I am, I didn’t ask you for a glass of water or tea. I replied,”
it’s fine aunty. I don’t need anything. I asked another question from Reet’s
Mother,” Aunty, does Reet have any enemy in his life? I mean someone who was
jealous of the success of Reet, who never want to see that Reet is going to
climb the ladder of success. His mother replied,” No, he was very friendly, he
goes mixed up so easily with everyone, that’s why he had a long list of friends
without any enemy.
Hmmmmmm,” I whispered then I asked,” Aunty, if you don’t
mind, Can I see Reet’s room once. Her mother replied,” why not beta? His room
is 2nd from the upstairs. We have kept all the belongings of our son
in his room only. I replied,” Thanks aunty and passed a smile towards her. She
said,” Beta you go in that room, tiil the time I prepare coffee for both of us.
I said,” ok aunty and moved forward to the upstairs.
I entered in Reet’s room and looked the photos of Reet and
its sketches on the wall. I must say he was great artist too; there were many
sketches on his room’s wall which were drawn by him. Then I saw a diary which
was lying on the bookshelf of Reet. I took the dairy and opened it, on the very
first page there was a title written “The Journey of my life – by Reet” and my
mind clicked that it must be daily life dairy of Reet, which he wrote every day
in the night. I took that diary into my bag and decided to read entire dairy,
might be I can get any clue from the dairy that why Reet committed suicide? I
know that keeping someone’s asset without his permissions is called theft, but
I was not having any other option.
Tea is ready beta,” her mother shouts from the hall, and I
left from the room. After taking tea, I asked for aunty’s permission to leave
and promised her to come back soon to meet her again.
While returning to home, I wished god for helping me today
and I also asked to forgive me for my lies. Now I reached my home and I put the
bag on my bed in which I have put Reet’s personal diary.
Now I was curious and eagerly waiting for the night, so that
I can read the entire dairy of Reet’s personal life without any disturbance as
my mom usually call me again & again for her help in household work.
